The Rotary Club of Oglethorpe County has joined with the Oglethorpe County Chamber of Commerce and multiple supporting organizations and businesses to present the Leadership Oglethorpe program. The objective of Leadership Oglethorpe is to, in a rapidly changing economic environment, increase leadership capacity in our rural county.  The program utilizes the UGA Fanning Institute for Leadership Development curriculum together with experiences unique to Oglethorpe County.  Since 2018, more than 70 community members have completed one of two alternating annual programs, adult or middle school youth.  We encourage you to join us in this effort in committing members of your organization to this initiative, thus helping to develop the future leaders of our community.

Attached is a  program application and the chamber encourages you to share it with  potential participants.  This includes the current schedule and details/commitments required by the program. Click on the following  link to access the application .  Leadership Oglethorpe Application 2024.pdf

Our kickoff meeting that was held at the Depot on Wednesday the 15th was a success. We had a great turnout. If you were unable to make it to this meeting, there will be plenty of other opportunities to attend future events.

We discussed how we can best use the Chamber website and social media to promote our small businesses in the area. We discussed having more networking events for our community to participate. We also discussed future partnership opportunities within the county.

The Chamber's goal is to help further the interests of small business in the local area, and if we aren’t doing that, we are failing our mission. Your involvement is crucial in further shaping our future.

We also had our business afterhours event Thursday the 16th, at the Blind Pig by College Station Rd. in Athens. This was a fun event, and we met even more great people in the community. This will be an event we will have on monthly basis. The location will change each month.

Keep an eye out on the Chamber calendar for more opportunities to meet your community and get involved.

We hear it all the time: “I didn’t know there was software to help us manage our membership!”

If you have members and have to deal with all the tasks that come with it – such as member renewals, membership directories, events, newsletters and more – there’s a membership management solution for that!

At many small membership organizations, the volunteers and staff are trying to do a lot with a little (e.g., limited resources and budgets). It’s good to know that there are technology solutions that can help get your entire team on the right track and reduce wasted time and frustration, so you can focus on growing your membership and meeting your mission.

We've created an in-depth look at membership management software – what it is, how it works, what it costs and how it can help you build a website, connect with your supporters and grow your membership, while saving you time and effort.
